The Kansas City National Security Campus is fully engaged in supporting NNSA's nonproliferation mission. Our nonproliferation efforts are managed through NNSA's Office Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) which is responsible for preventing the spread of materials, technology and expertise relating to weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
This mission is multifaceted and includes a variety of programs focused on detecting, preventing, and reversing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, while mitigating the risks from nuclear operations. The Kansas City National Security Campus participates in several of DNN's programs, most notably those designed to redirect the Former Soviet Union's nuclear weapons production complex toward commercial, non military applications, reducing the infrastructure that could contribute to weapons production. In addition, we participate in a number of programs to analyze, identify and prevent the spread of technologies and materials essential for the production of WMD.
In today's volatile, unpredictable, and dangerous international environment, there is no more important mission than preventing proliferation and terrorist threats. The Kansas City National Security Campus is proud of its contribution to the United States and its effort to address national and international security challenges.
